Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

Totally! Except I only know that color from movies... All of the monks that I know wear black.

oooo black would be City++--especially if oil was coming out of the beans.

I do not like them roasted that dark.

@TeaChick

kopi luwak is also called cat poop coffee or civet cat coffee.

the coffee collected in the wild is the most expensive....

civet cat

Though not a monkey they are not actually a cat either

not something I would buy unless it was wild harvested.

deb

I see. TFS. =)
Yeah, that's the kind of thing I'd want wild-harvested instead of harvested in captivity.

OK here is a source of Wild Civet coffee.

$70.00 for 1.75 ounces or $640.00 for 16 ounces

It takes 36g to make a double shot of espresso!!! That's over $150 for DH's and my morning "coffee"!!!

nice story

Welcome to the thread. =)

I TOTALLY so not get the eating coffee after the beans have been pooped out by any critter.

I do not care what it tastes like.....

Happy Sunday everyone!
ya.gif

I'm not keen on the idea either.

Happy Belated Sunday! =)

Eek! Monkeys strike me like clowns strike some people! Nope, nope, nope. I'll hold out for a chicken any day.

Not too keen on the coffee civet, either, but at least it's not a monkey.

Well, there you go; it's not a monkey, so...
lol JK
I'm happy w/ my chickens for laying eggs; I don't mind buying regular coffee beans. =)

"City to Full City"????

Yeah, coffee ppl are weird.

Those must be Catholic monks. Did you go to a Jesuit school?

I have a question and I'm sure that someone on here either knows or knows where to find the answer!

What about chickens and tea tree oil (melaluca essential oil)?
I have a wooden brooder (about 1' x 2' x 4' inside), and it needs to be cleaned; I also have a bottle of tea tree oil water (about 6-8 drops of oil to about 16 oz water) made up. I know the tea tree oil will keep the brooder fresher and keep stuff from growing in the wood, etc. But IDK whether it's something that is safe to be used around chick(en)s, especially chicks b/c that's especially what I put in the brooder.

birds in general should not breathe tea trea oil fumes.

I would not use it.

No idea on the tea tree oil.

As to Jesuits! :D Yes, they are known as being the black priests... And lots of other things besides ;) However, I am Orthodox, and all of our priests and nuns were all black. The Orthodox do not have orders like the Papists, but we do have different kinds of monastics. So, there are communal living monastics, solitary monastics, as well as monastics that are in the world and do whatever (teach at a school, help run an old folks home, etc.)

Only problem with aeromatics... such as Tea Tree or Cedar.... the little uns absorb too much....

If you were to use it between broods then let it air out in the sun it probably would be Ok... I mean AIR out till you cant smell the oil any more. But you can also do the same with a spray of white vinegar... which has no oil but incredible antiseptic properties all on its own.

If it were me.... I would get it very very clean and bleached with a good antiseptic and very very dry.... Then I would spar varnish the whole interior.... with two maybe three coats. The exterior as well. Using a water based varnish.... If there are any gaps in the wood that varnish will soak in and fill em.... then the second coat will find all the gaps that were left.... then the third coat would smooth everything out. Then Varnish the outside to keep moisture from wicking in from the outside to protect the finish on the inside. Every coat takes a day or two to cure.... so... its a project you have to want to do.

Now the whole thing is very cleanable and disinfect-able.... Probably could be used as a Sink if you wanted....

Interesting. IDK much about Orthodox. I was baptized and confirmed Episcipalian. I've attended Methodist and Baptist and Baptist-based non-denominational and AG-based "interdenominational" churches (consistently) and I've also visited Pentecostal, Apostalic, and Catholic churches several times but not with any consistency.
I think it's really good that ppl affiliated w/ Christianity do those things!!! (teach at schools, help at old folks homes, also run community centers and after school programs and other community support things to help ppl)

I like the vinegar idea (I've done that before, a few times).
I like the varnish idea; however, I don't wanna. lol I just stain/varnished (2-in-1) 4 book cases (3'x4'x18") with two shelves each (2 coats on each piece of everything)... well, I say "just" I just did it this past winter. Anyway, I'm not interested in doing a project like that again (not even once). But I do agree w/ you that it would make the brooder very cleanable and potentially sink-worthy (except for the "door" that is almost the entire front).
