Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

Woo hoo to more chickens...
(Me too! :cd

And especially coffee....

In a few weeks I'll be trying Turkish coffee.

What's special about Turkish coffee?
(that's a genuine question asked nicely, not a mean question asked obnoxiously)

Turkish coffee is pretty amazing.
I do NOT need more chickens, in fact, I'm looking to get rid of around 8.

I'll take them! Wait, are they boys or girls? Never mind, I don't care. I'll take them! :D

Yeah... Then there is the quality of life issue....

If the bad food is gonna leave me a husk of myself but alive in misery for years..... Verses the bad food will make me sicken and die after a one week illness...

Totally changes if I am changing.

Dang... That reminds me, I haven't been drinking alcohol every day... I have to start that, and see if it can get my good cholesterol up.

I am trying that, and two miles of walking a day, for 6 months, and only then... If my numbers are still terrible, with I think of giving up my white bread products.

That sounds like a good plan and a fair trial.
We're changing our eating too. DH is having wine and ale beersevery day, and we're both increasing fermented foods, ACV, coconut oil, and no more white floor at all for a while. We don't eat that much white flour anyway, we've been cutting down over that past few years. It looks more like a rollercoaster than really cutting down, but we're having less and less over the years.

HDL will go down as you exercise and lose weight. When you get to a good weight, It will go up a bunch.

I wonder if that makes any sense?

Basically, HDL will go up a point for every couple of pounds you lose or so. Alcohol will tend to make you gain weight so be careful with it. It can also cause the liver to get funky and not burn bad cholesterol.(bad cholesterol burns up good cholesterol)

Also, remove all sources of plastic. No plastic cups and no plastic heating food in the microwave. Microwave popcorn is a no no too and of course do not eat trans fats.

I would not be so worried about the white bread but add more fruits and veggies.

Sounds like you know a lot about this.
Alcohol is very calorie dense, but on beer or glass of wine a day shouldn't cause actual weight gain, right?

My cholesterol is super low, the problem is that ALL of my numbers are low, even the good ones. ... I am only about 20 pounds over weight.. But trying to loose that....
Matt time mine was checked, like six years ago, my total cholesterol was high. DH switch the family from ground beef to ground turkey immediately. There were other changes, but that one sticks out bc he really likes beef and he's not that keen on the grd turkey. (think that emoticon with the hearts here)

I'm on my phone and I don't know the code for that one.

Plastic compounds in food. Canned tomatoes, microwave popcorn even drinking from plastic cups. You can absorb plastic from some cash register receipts. It is a major hormone disrupter.

You can eat it in food, absorb in from the skin and even breath it in from taking a shower using a vinyl shower curtain.

I hate plastic and now I have another reason. Not only is it bad for us and everywhere, it's sneaking into our bodies when we don't even know it!!!! >:-(

My dad has better numbers than I do... And he is fatter  But he also eats more fat... Goose fat and cow fat, and pig fat... He really loads up on animal fats.

yum, animal day.
I'm limited to dinner, yogurt, and one other animal protein a day (and the day? forget it!). :/

Eeeeew!

OK... No plastic in my shower... Tile and glass door, whew!

I don't drink out of plastic (well, only very rarely when I am traveling in a to go cup).

I DO eat a fair amount of canned tomato products! But how do I cut those out? That is a major way I increase the fruit/veggie component of my diet!

Could you post a pic of yourself traveling in a to go cup, please?
To increase fruits and veggies, but then fresh and don't let them go bad. Also, growing then yourself (when you can; I know you have a limited growing season there).
We buy grapes and once they're washed, I just grab then from the fridge, easy what I want, and get one of my minions to put them back. :D
Bags of baby carrots make those easy. Apples are widely available here; IDK about there. We try to buy organic of the stuff that we eat the peel on (organic apples, cheap bananas, for instance).

Boxed tomatoes. It is the plastic liner on the inside of the can that has plastic in it. Acidic food will have more than other foods so tomatoes are not supposed to ever come in cans.

Sadly, I still buy them...But am trying not too....

I'll have to talk to DH about this.

I googled.... But won't those be lined in plastic too?

Good question. Wish I'd thought of that. :thud

Fruit and veggie eating here is problematic...

In general it is super expensive and tastes bad.

Frozen and canned is just super expensive.

Local goods are a two months out of the year thing. We (the family) eats oodles of fresh when it is here.... But that is sill just for two months. :idunno Some things like peas and raspberries the kids only like and eat when fresh.

Of course, I do some things like grow sprouts throughout the year... But I grow sprouts in plastic! :th

All this healthy talk.... I have been doing more and more healthy eating. My bad cholesterol was through the roof. And no good cholesterol to be found.... I do my best to eat meat/ fish or chicken.. Veggies and fruit.
I have smoothies for breakfast w/ banana frozen fruit and some times kale or spinach. With a protein power.
2 snacks a day an light dinner. Salad every day.
When I do this I do really good.

@teachick
Idk yet, I'm going to turkey and Greece, I hear Turkish coffee is good only you don't drink much.
