Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

I had the most horrid nightmare last night

Super vivid...

I picked up a chicken, checked it for lice (remember my chickens had lice last month), and found lice on it!!! I was so upset that they were back, or not gone, and kept looking the chicken over, and as I looked at it I noticed that it had no feathers at all... Just slightly fuzzy like a peach.

And I kept looking, to see how many lice were on it... And there were bunches... I noticed two deep holes close to its vent that were packed with lice, healthy looking skin, but crawling with lice

I was so upset, wondering how I would get the lice out of those tunnels....and them I woke up

It was an horrific experience for you... you are bound to have flashbacks. Dreaming is a way to process them.... My horrific dream is not being able to find a bathroom and if I do Its ikky or people are watching.... I wake up... and have to go...

Or not being able to find my house.... I been having that dream Long before I bought my house... down to the topography and neighbors. and when I do its falling down... and my horse is gone...

I think I skimmed over the treatment part. How is Frontline used again? (As in which Frontline (reg, Plus, spray), where to apply, how much?) And can it be used as a preventative?
TIA.

Use generic frontline and it is three drops for Large Fowl and two or 1 drop for bantams. You can also use frontline spray.

A drop on the vent and one under each wing--needs to be on skin.

Ivermctin is either a pour on that is applied like frontline or in water.

Spinosad is a spray and elektor has instructions and amounts.

My dream that gets to me is: I'm trying to get some where (work, moms or home) and obsticale after obsticale get in the way. Have to get gas, than go to pick some thing up... I can never seem to get to the destination...

Pumpkin everything is out now. Must be pumpkin season!

The medications like that freak me out (my crunchy granola side). I do NOT want stuff that enters into the blood stream of something that I will be eating. :sick (or just eating the eggs from)

That was part of my nightmare with the lice... Having to use chemicals... :barnie

I used the lab form of Pyrethrum to kill the lice, which is actually pretty scary, since the half life is horrifically long! It boggles my mind that so many people use the stuff will nilly. Besides helping all of the bugs become resistant to it... Just EEEK!!!

Anyway, I used it... Then I bagged up all poop and bedding and took it to the dump... Actually, I need to make one more "take all bedding to the dump" run. No way am I going to let that toxic stuff sit on my land.

But, achem... The stuff I used worked. I do keep picking up the ladies and checking... And checking... And checking...

Hence the nightmare

@perchie.girl and @Chicken Ladies

Yep, totally with you both... Dreams can be wild.

My standard one... When I feel that life is overwhelming.. Is driving in a car, down a hill, with no breaks.

As to the season of pumpkin... I can take it or leave it, EGGNOG season though! WOWSERS do I struggle to 1. Keep myself from buying it, and 2. Keep myself from gaining 10 or so pounds from drinking it!!!

Frontline stays in the skin--into the oil glands. I would be careful of eating them and you should wait several weeks after treating to eat a chicken.

Frontline does not get into the egg yolks.

I had a nightmare last night about chickens too oddly enough but I was locked in a house with a hyper aggressive black rooster who was chasing me around and even came through a doggy door at me. Oddly enough we haven't a doggy door and the rooster that we had that was hyper aggressive has been toast for months and wasn't pure black.

I'm with you pumpkin is alright. Don't care for the creamer though now the pumpkin cheesecake shake arbys has is amazing but their crème brulé shake last year was better but I may be biased. Now egg not and I are great friends. I do limit myself though that and we always mix ours with skim milk. All the flavor lots less calories and it last longer. ;) enjoy!
