Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

Deb,

Crazy about cooking a frozen turkey.

I have a friend in Michigan who cooks a 22 pounder every year starting frozen solid.. she just reminded me of this this week when I was talking about my turkey defrosting in the refrigerator.

She doesnt stuff the turkey she prefers to cook the turkey without. But because the breast meat stays cooler longer it doesnt over cook leaving the breast meat cooked but still very moist.

I will give it a try when i get up to my house. Here we cook low and slow tented so all the juices go in the roasting pan for gravy.

My son is making thanksgiving for his roommates, so he called from Walmart.
No turkey- but he was going to do the boy scout dutch oven teriyaki chicken thighs any way.
I said, "Make sure you get a pumpkin pie and whipped cream!" and he said, "Oh yes. The dining halls are closed until Sunday, I got a pecan pie too!"

Just taking a sanity break and gazing deep into my coffee mug. All the frenzy of cleaning about to be replaced by the chaos of visiting relatives. First time we've had guests at our house longer than overnight. Got the last bit of unpacking done, but still missing a living room sofa (to be delivered Friday). Supposed to rain, too.

Let the holidays begin!

you have a great attitude

Turk is small so according to the charts will cook in about three hours. Not stuffing it.
We eat at two or three so will put it on at ten or eleven...
going to cook the potatoes in the microwave. they mashup just the same as boiling them Taste better.

I wimped out and bought Real Wipped cream the canned stuff...

I am OCD so much on peeling eggs I wont let any one do them....

Sweet ptoatoe cassoerole is going to be interesting. I Nuked two HUGE yams untill they were partially done. Eaiser to peel then split them and sliced them into half moon slices about a qarter to half inch thick. spread them out like tipped over chips in a Glad oven safe pan... These pans are huge and good up to three fifty degrees. The topping calls for Whole Cranberry sauce and lemon juice and honey. I mixed the sauce up and put it in a container. Tomorrow the Sweet ptato gets topped with the sauce and it goes in the oven at the same temp as the turk goes.

The Green bean casserole gets more onions and goes in at the same time....

I can take my time with peeling eggs and nuking the potatoes. Gravy gets made after the turk gets cooked. I have back up chicken stock to extend the drippings if needed.

Didnt write tonight.
