Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

'Al' neat birds. Are they all cockerels?

They are a crested variety, even if they don't appear to have the really high vaulted skulls like the Polish or Silkies, so it has me wondering . . . can you sex them this early? I know with Polish, you can tell by the shape of the fuzz on the top of the head - a round puff toward the front is a female, an oval puff that runs down the back of the head a bit is male. This is a pair of Polish chicks I had:

The bantam chick on the left is female, the large fowl chick on the right is male.

WOW AL!!!!
What beautiful birdies!!! Great pics too BTW. I am so jealous

Definitely keep us posted on any further progress. So glad you actually got a hatch.

I love the chickie pics. Makes me still have hope that there is going to be an actual thing called Spring. (this is out our front door a few minutes ago)

my driveway, sigh.

Yep, they all do look like cockerels.

With Spitz, I don't think they can be sexed until they are older, their crests are way smaller than with Polish, you see zero crest at hatch.

At least with the ones I raised last year, I couldn't tell what I had until they were about two months. And then it as clear that the TWO chicks that I had hatched were a male and a female. :D those howere are two "I wanna be black, but I haven't wuite managed" :lau and I super wanted Chamois.

Chicki, that isn't snow, that is a bunch of apple blossoms. :D

Deb, whew! Hot! Drink lots!
