Stoat Mustela erminea. This long and slender animal is a speedy, fierce little hunter and is aggressively territorial, and is particularly deft at climbing trees. The stoat is identifiable not only from its slim body, but the warm reddish brown fur, white underside and the long tail with a black tip. When you catch one and dispatch it try to squeeze out some urine and wipe it's anus all over the trap. Nothing attracts a weasel like the smell of another weasel. I once caught 3 in the same trap over the course of a day. That year I caught 28 at the beagle club.
