Our "coffee hour" is really a pot luck and is actually pretty good.

And Alaska is pretty strongly into coffee. We have lots of local coffee bean roasters throughout the state, and we on the whole are addicted to the good stuff.

Our church provides the coffee, but the rest of the goodies are brought from the parishioners.

I got a green egg today in my little pullet pen. The pullets that are not old enough to lay yet.

At least this one was not in the rooster pen.

I lost 2 more keets today, Ethel's babies. I am not sure what is taking them during the day. We were gone, not signs of struggles, Ethel does not seem overly shook up by this. I am confused. I did a head count, I am down on chickens too. Something is getting them during the day. Of course, a head count is hard to do when they are not neatly on the roost but crowded together. It is that time of year, young hawks, eagles and coyotes thinking I raised the birds for them. I thought I had taken care of my problem, guess not.

New Ulm....Hmmmm I wonder if I could get rid of any keets and pullets there. I need to make some hard choices this week if I did decide to go. I need to get down to my breeding stock for next year, and lock them in breeding pens for a few weeks.. SOON!

The rest need to go. I am going through way too much feed. I have been trapping chipmunks but no luck yet.

I did find a mushroom tonight. I did not care for it but Judy said it was good, she called it nutty, I called it "tasteless". My cousin said that is what people describe the "puffball" as. You can see in the pictures I have the book open to the page and am identifying it, in addition to sending my cousin a picture of it.

Pictures are the top of the page, I messed up somehow. The first two id'ing it the third checking the meat to see if it is right, and the last was cooked. Must be ok Judy is still breathing.

Oh boy,,goofed that up! This was meant for MN page....duh..

Is anybody else drinking espresso now, or am I the only crazy one?

No I think Ron drinks brewed.... he roasts his own. Ralphie and Sour too.

I drink espresso based drinks. Or Toddy style brewed coffee. Toddy style is cold brewed on the counter over night.... one whole pound of ground coffee Good water poured in and it sits for at least 12 hours. once decanted its mixed with hot water at about a one to one ratio. Not bitter at all.

Espresso I get from a local shop. and for breakfast for years I would have four shots in a sixteen ounce cup then filled up the rest of the way with half and half. I rarely go for a Latte or frapochino... but i do like Dirty Chi.... Which is the Chi tea mix and espresso... Yummy but sooo many calories.

These days I have my four shots over ice.... Its like a cold version of an Americana... Starts out very strong and mellows with each sip.

Regular coffee has to be really special for me to enjoy it
