sizzle, frizzle, and frazzle???

Pics
Out water pump is messing up and I don't want to be half way through the bath and have it die again so baths are being postponed.

The bald patches could be from over mating. Usually frazzles have much thinner feathers, as in the feather itself looks skinny. They also tend to feel very stiff instead of soft and fluffy and their little wings can be sharp as all get out when just the quills are left!

I'm so glad you saved them, it sounds like they needed it! Two 5 gallon buckets can serve as bath tubs in a pinch, especially since you've only got 3 to clean up. Wash in one and rinse in the other. I use them in the warmer months to bathe my birds, it cuts down on bathroom clean up time!

Good luck with your new fluffies, I bet they'll be looking spiffy before you know it!

I think they are definitely frazzles. Their poor wings are just quills left. The feathers near their necks are a bit soft but nothing like how soft the roosters feathers are. The lady said that they were being overbred but she also told me I should buy a frizzle rooster to breed to the frizzled hens if I wanted frizzled babies. So I dont know....

One hen is a blue cochin

The other is a cochin silkie mix and she is almost all black with a few red feather around her neck.

The rooster is a partridge colored silkie...and I forgot to get a pictures of him before I came inside. He is not fizzled or frazzled.

I am going to save their eggs at room temperature incase one of the hens goes broody since I get enough eggs from my normal layer hens.

I just hatched 6 chicks that I hope will be sizzle (possible 1st, 3rd, 4th gen I believe as hens are mixed) All look possible as they meet the silkie standard of skin and toes. We shall see I guess!

I want to buy more sizzle eggs though to not start this from scratch you know?

Does anyone have sizzle eggs or day old chicks to sell??

I have eggs but can also hatch chicks. If I sent you some eggs you would get a mixture of frizzled sizzles, smooth sizzles, or frizzled silkies because I have a frizzled sizzle roo over silkies. I've hatched out a few batches so far and those were the results. I usually end up with at least 2 of each when I hatch 6-7. I'm in CT so it would all depend on whether or not you wanted eggs shipped or you wanted to drive down for chicks if I were to hatch for you.
