Sizzles are establishing their own breed. So yes, silkie to a frizzle is the origination. Sizzles can generate three forms of bird - Curly feathered, silkie featured birds we call Sizzles, straight feathered silkie featured birds we call sizzles - little s, and Frilkies - a curly silkie.

Sometimes a fourth is produced if you breed two curlies together, called a Frazzle - over curled, fragile feathered that does not do well. We tend not to breed two curlies to avoid the problem.

These are fourth generation Sizzles, the first two close to correct form, the third of lesser quality, the fourth a smooth with OBVIOUS faults and the fifth a Frilkie.

My little one has a hatchmate that looks just like that last picture. If you tire of the first two - feel free to send them to Iowa...

So what should I mate with the one I have when it comes of age?

LOL Sarah (Sarah's Sizzles) has dibs on the Splash Roo but she's letting me hold on to him for a bit since shipping in heat is too dicey. Reposado the Blue Sizzle is mine m ine all mine and so is the Black with the crew cut, Aris. Aris may not match Reposado for looks but darn that's a sweet animal.

Sheridan the Blue Red is staying for work on a Blue/Red, Black/Red and Splash/Red pet line. The variety is not approved.

And Anejo the Blue Frilkie went to a pet home.

So it's BBS here for the work on show goals.

And the wild and mysterious BBS and Red for pets.

Long ways to go but I couldn't have gotten started at all if it weren't for Sarah.

Sheridan looks like he had his hair slicked back with gel. I like the color combo of blue and red.

Is Sarah someone thats on BYC?

Yes, Sarah is on here and also set up the Yahoo group for Sizzles. She just doesn't get by often and is either to contact through the Sizzles group.

She Rocks...

In the best of all possible worlds the goal is Sheridan's colors on smooth and Sizzle birds with proper crests instead of the hair gel version, combs, dark skin , and preferably beards.

But one step at a time, bred to blue, I should get a blue girl to breed back to him. Hopefully some improvement on his face and comb to go with it. To his daughter he should then produce BBS with Red, if he does not then he's an extended b with demelanizers and he'll probably produce blue/red and black/red. Sell him, keep the best blue/red roo and on and on and on...

I hope he is blue red, the second generation would then produce a splash/red that I want to see badly...

In the meantime I saw him try to breed a delaware...omg............

You have a great little Sizzle there. What are your options for breeding? Do you have any Silkies? I used Silkies for the first few generations because I wanted to force the Silkie traits into the birds as much as possible before trying to even use a smooth sizzle. The best possibly mate would be a smooth sizzle (smooth regular feathered bird) I would use a Silkie as second choice then the last choice in my opinion would be a Cochin. You will loose crest size and end up with red and single combs with the cochin but if you use the Silkie you will end up with Silkie feathered birds and that slows down the progress too. You will need to hatch lots of eggs and take the best of the offspring and use the next time around.

I really like your little one. I can't even begin to guess sex. I am able to be confused with my own for months.
