Ok, I've got three I'm confused about. One is white, frizzled. Has a topknot. Blue ear lobes, black skin, correct foot feathering and correct toes. In every way she is Silkie, but no "silkied" feathers. I also have a blue, same thing. Identical Silkie features, but this girl is much curlier than the white, whose feathers are more sparse and spiky rather than curled.

And then there is this little critter... Again, blue earlobes, black skin and toes, leg feathering. His feathering is extremely soft anf fluffy, vs the harder feathers on the other two.

So are they frizzles, Sizzles, or something else? As far as I know they are all from Silkie parents.

The one pictured is a sizzle. Do you have photos of the others?

Ok, here is the blue girl, Fizzle. She's got all her Silkie characteristics, but she has the same ultra curly, incredibly soft but not silkied feathering that little Zappy has.

And the white, her name is Sizzle, who is different. Her wings are actually kind of icky, there is more hard feathers, but they look like the feathery ends came off. I wonder if she might be a "frazzle"? She doesn't have bald spots, but she has a LOT less feathering than others. I love her, but she is a weird one.

Oh dear, I now have a frizzled Silkie named Sizzle who is not a Sizzle! I'm going to confuse myself, the chicken, and others LOL. I think I'll rename her Not-Sizzle. Close enough that he'll answer to it!

Now, if the blue girl were bred to my white Silkie roo, would the resulting chicks be considered Sizzles, frizzled Silkies, both, or neither? Would it depend upon the actual frizzling (or not-frizzling) the chicks displayed?

In the case of Sizzle, the not-sizzle... Would breeding her with a normal Silkie roo take out that frizzling in the chicks? Would breeding her to something frizzled make me Sizzles, or would it give me piteous Frazzles?

This is so interesting to me!

Genetic code for sizzle feathering is

F/f+ H+/H+

although it could be

F/f+ H+/h in this case, some of the bird's offspring could be silkied.

Genetic code for a frizzled silkie is

F/f+ h/h all offspring will receive a copy of the gene for silkie feathering.

If a bird inherits two copies of the gene for silkie feathering, it will be silkied.
