Skinny, foul poop, sick chicken

I was able to check her crop this morning and I think it was empty because I didn't feel anything at all. No hard or squishy balls. I soaked her feet for a bit and rewrapped them with drawing salve. Also, I have been giving her the Tylan 50 daily because I still have not received the amoxicillin in the mail. She is still eating and drinking and quite feisty when I was trying to wrap her feet. Her behind is very stinky and I had to wash her feathers again. I can't believe I am working so much trying to heal this chicken that used to peck me every chance she got.

Did you know that the correct Tylan 50 dose for chickens is 1/4 ml per pound of body weight 4 times a day?

Hello, No, I didn't know that. I have looked here at BYC in the search function many times for dosages and never saw anything that gave specifics like that. Mostly, I would see 1/2ml for a standard size hen daily. Can you please share where this information comes from?

She needs a long round of a broad spectrum antibiotic, perhaps as long as three weeks of amoxicillin.

You can get amoxicillin from an aquarium store. Fish-mox is good for chickens, too. 250 mg once a day, or divide the pill in half and give morning and at night.

Azygous,
I have a question about this amoxicillin. It came in capsules not tablets. I was wondering if I just give the whole capsule like I pill a cat or dog? or am I supposed to open the capsule and mix the powder with something?

I give it whole. How much does she weigh? Amoxicillin dose is ~57 to 68 mg per pound per twice a day. My vet has me give the lower amount.

Ok thank you. She was roughly 3 pounds. Did you have any thoughts on her poop picture that I posted? It looks to me like the food is just coming straight back out without being digested.

It does look like it's going straight through. Can you get a scale and start weighing her daily?

Forgot to answer this. The Elanco website says this:

I have other references too if you want to see them. The above says 50 mg per pound per day, two three veterinary books, and one vet say about the same, and all say to give it 3-4 times a day.

I wanted to post an update.
She is still having diarrhea. Still eating and drinking. She hasn't lost any more weight but hasn't gained any weight either. I am not able to do the daily soaks on her feet due to my work schedule but I do bring her in every other day or every 2 days. I have still been getting a lot of pus out of her toes. Then I reapply the drawing salve and wrap back up with gauze and vet wrap. Still giving her amoxicillin and I just started fish zole too. As well as some nutridrench ever couple of days.

I did notice that today when I was soaking her in the tub that she actually was grooming her wet feathers and stood the whole time. Previously she just laid down in the tub. So, I think that is a plus but I feel that we still have a long road ahead of us.

Another update....I found her on the roost with the other hens tonight! YAY! I am thinking this is a good sign!

Soaked her feet today and a lot got a lot of bloody pus out of her left foot today. This is her most swollen foot but previously have only been getting lots of pus from her right foot. So, I am really happy about that. I am off the next couple of days so I can do a few daily soaks. Of course, I am also continuing her antibiotics. Her weight is 3.6 pounds. She was around 3 to 3.4 initially. So, I think she has gained a couple oz. but diarrhea persists.
