Skippy has Angel Wings

So, I filled up the tub last night and let Skippy splash around. He does not float, but he had a good time dunking his head under and splashing water all over himself.

I was able to finally try to get a good look at his wings and noticed that they are not able to fully extend. I'm thinking it may have been nutrient deficiency, since it appears the wings didn't form properly.

If this is the cause it isn't something that will shorten his life or cause him trouble or pain I wouldn't think. Get him on a good diet with extra vits and when he molts next fall maybe his wing feathers will come in normal. So when he flaps his wings they don't extend all the way out?

No, they don't extend all the way :(. He also seems to hold that joint in the photo higher than the other ducks.

It's hard to see in the photo, but I have circled where he tends to hold it.

Could be nutrient or could just be a genetic thing from this person breeding to close or a birth defect , not sure if a birth defect would affect both wings though. When he finished with his bath did he preen?

He was preening like crazy in the bath, then continued after I got him out and dried off.

I bought him some Rooster Booster and added that to his water. Hopefully that gets him on the right track.

I haven't looked at his preen gland. I am not even sure he will let me. I will try tonight.

I made him a romaine salad with cucumber and dog food "croutons" last night. He went nuts! He's quite the character.

And enjoying the TLC it sounds like. room service with a smile.

He seems far more content being inside, that's for sure... My husband thinks he might have to be a house duck
