Hi! We are going to be using a 10x10 chain link dog run as our chicken run and we will be adding hardware cloth to the bottom three feet of the fencing. I wanted a little bit of a solid wall on one side (by the coop) and I was going to use some chain link fence slats that are left over from when our fence was done. For that wall, will I need to still reinforce it with the hardware cloth, or will the slats be enough?

Here is a google image search I just did in case anyone needs to see what I am talking about. https://www.google.com/search?q=cha...v&sa=X&ei=iDaFU830BoKKyASv14CYDA&ved=0CGEQsAQ

Thanks, y'all!

Our run will be covered, btw.

If you use wood or plastic slats, i would think that would be ok, but if you had extra hardware clothe, it wouldn't be a bad idea to put it on that part also, if you are doing it for appearence, put it on the inside, you just can't have too much protection. Peace of mind is worth a lot, No piont in laying down at night and toss and turn wondering if the chicks are going to be OK

All I talk about is chickens. All I think about is chickens. All I do is research chickens. lol.

I think my wife feels like your husband, but she takes care of 48 the 2 weeks i am at work, don't know what i would do without her, she told me when i got home last time, 35 years of marriage would come to an abrupt halt if i brought any more home without disscussing it with here first. Thats when i told her about the 10 i had just picked up on the way home.lol she is still there, but got mad as a wet hen, lol, I just don't know how i will brake the news about the 12 Easter Egger's i plan to get,lol
