did your husband grow up with dogs?
Yes and no. His mom had a GSD mix, but he didn't train it or take care of it. So no experience with dogs before we got married.

ahh pits and rots are perfect together. I have scene many pacs with both. Properly bred pitbulls are much easier to handle than people make it out to be. Properly bred they wont fight other dogs unless they have permission and they should let go the first time you command. Fighting lines were bred so that a person could put there hands in the dogs mouth while fighting and not worry about getting bit, if even a nip the dog was no good fro breading. I would have a properly bred pit bull over any other dog. Aggression is really only an issue in mixed breed bullies or poorly bred bull dogs, they are called the nanny dog for a good reason. Ours like to play with cats and ferrets and they love everybody.
they have been used for fighting more than almost any othewr dog, they were originally used for bull baiting. they would not be the breed threy are today if it wasnt for dog fighters breeding them to the current standard.i LOVE PITBULLS. they where bred as weight pulling dogs, not fighting dogs, but they can fight.

yeah i understand bad mixes pitbulls and chihuahuas are not the easiest, when i first moved in the chihuahuas would bark and bite but I took control and dont blame anybody. The dogs dont listen as well to my wife but shes starting to get it. I have been reading the thread I know the story. I lay on top of my dogs a lot I have read it is a good way of asserting your dominance regularly without being aggressive.
oh i hate chihuahuas but my wife has had them since they were puppies and like i said they are very old now. Her grandparents both would say "oh how cute" when they would bark there heads off and when they would bite they would just laugh while proclaiming " they think they are big dogs". they have been broke of that. I explained if any dog no matter how small but somebody its a liability and the dog isnt safe, they agreed and its taken all these years.Chihuahuas are difficult and i think the only reason they are getting docile is they are going blind and deaf and starting to give up. Chihuahuas are really a 1 person dog , not the best for famalies
I personally don't like chihuahuas. It's not so much the dogs, it's the people's handling of them. "oh Princess didn't mean to bite you, she just don't want you by mommy!" there are more bites from small dogs than large dogs. And it's all because of how people treat the little dogs. I can't stand the site of someone carring the tiny pooch in a dang purse, like Paris Hilton. Ugh!
