Slow Night Here In Quailville

lol I heard my first crow yesterday! scared the bejeebus outta me! used to the small talk they do, lol. they are approaching 5 weeks old. I think. lesse here hatched Jan 24 and today is the 19 o' febuary No it's 4.5ish. Anyway, today I moved them out of my kitchen into the shed with the rabbits, they are in seperate cages of course. The shed has electricity and I have two lights on them, they are healed from the bloody pinioning and all feathered out. I can see about half are male and the rest may be female but it's hard to tell on the tux and the tibetians. They seem to be happy out there. It must be the invigorating temp drop. I hope they will do alright tonight, I put pine bedding in their cage for something to bed down in. I also took them a plate of boiled eggs, they are so spoiled......

I went out to feed mine and several of them were bloody. The browns I was sure of, one rooster, two hens. A pair of goldens, a tuxedo roo and an unknown I guess tibetan. So I put the two goldens in a pen and one went after the other one who was already bloody. So I separated them and they both started crowing! About that time , the tibetan started crowing. Thank heavens neither of the brown hens started crowing. So out of that batch I have 2 hens and 5 roosters. I haven't got the younger batch figured out yet.

Got my first egg out of my Bob pen today...actually hubby saw it first. It is even smaller than the coturnix eggs. Be time to start thinning out the Bob boys I do not want to keep...sure hope they taste as good as JJ says...lol

Yay I got 60 eggs from Uglyduck yesterday, I set them late last night. A total of three broke during shipment so I set 57. half are brown half are golden. My JJ birds survived the outside night in the shed, they looked peeved at me from moving outside, but they are eating tons and drinking up the water, so I think they'll do ok. I got crowed at this morning by one of em(they always wait to see if I'm watching them lol). They sure are fun lil boogers! I started my HCG diet 3 days ago. I am not feeling too hungry but I bet in a couple weeks 600 calories will seem like a feast! ( can only have 500 a day lol) Quail are on the diet during phase 3 or so. Anyone else out there do the HCG diet? I'm doing the drops because my freinds at work are doing them with me.

wow is it quite are is it just me! I can't wait for the move so I can get to some major hatching! And nope no HCG diet best of luck to you with it though

No diet for moi...at least not right now. Getting 5-8 inches of snow tomorrow night, so much for Spring. Am starting tomatoes and peppers on my plant stand with the grow lights, no way I can get lettuce, onions or any cool weather stuff outside yet.

Just waiting for the spring thaw so I can do some outside things. I swore no incubating until it was warm enough for the chicks to go directly outside into the shed or the chicken house, no more inside chick raising. Since I do have an allergy to feathers it really is for the best anyway, doesn't mean I have to like it though.

Thanks, read it. I am using the herbal version, no urine in that. And if it's magic water, well, it's working. I am down 5 lbs! I need to do something fast i was pushin 250.. I am trying to stay psyced up and am excercising too. and 500 calories I know has not much to offer vitamin-wise so am taking supplements too. don't worry I have considered the risks and the placebo effect, lol. Thanks Jen!
