Slow Night Here In Quailville

I shot one four times with a 270 and it didn't kill it. Then my dad got it when it ran out in the field. It made a pretty hide. I use it as a rug in my room and the deer hide makes a nice chair cover.

.300WSM DOES IN 1 SHOT

A 22-250 also haha I want to get a .22 to shoot some squirrek and groundhogs lol

NOT A REAL BIG FAN OF SMALL BULLETS IN CENTERFIRE( THE 22 HORNET GETS A FREE PASS HERE).. HAVE PLAYED WITH 217, 22-250'S, 25-06'S, 7MM TCU, 7MM REM MAG, 270'S, 280'S. 6.5 JOHNSON SPITFIRE, AND MANY MANY OTHERS. WHILE ACCURACY MAY OR MAY NOT BE ATTAINED WITH ANY AND ALL LISTED... THE RESULTS HAVE ALWAYS LEFT ME WANTING IN SOME WAY OR ANOTHER... MOST OFTEN ITS A LACK OF BRUTE FORCE KNOCKDOWN/ KINETIC ENERGY TRANSFER (WHICH HELPS GREATLY WITH COYOTES, HOGS, AND BEAR)

DONT GET ME WRONG, I LIKE THE LIL ZIPPER GUNS, STILL HAVE A FEW, GOT A SWEET LIL .223 SILHOUTTE RIFLE... YEAH IT DOES BAD THINGS TOO, BUT AGAIN ALL ZIP NO POP

IF YOU'RE IMPRESSED WITH WHAT THAT TEENY TINY LIL 60GR ZIPPER DOES YOU SHOULD SEE WHAT HAPPENS TO 150GRS OF BALLISTIC TIPPED BOATTAIL DOES WHEN WOUND UP TO SIMILAR SPEEDS... THE DIFFERENCE IS ASTOUNDING, AND WINDAGE ACCURACY IS A NON-FACTOR WITH LONG SHOTS( THIS IS MANDATORY WITH MY USES)--- A REALITY THAT DOES NOT HOLD TRUE FOR SMALLER BULLETS. THEN THERE'S THE USEFUL OR PRACTICAL MATTERS... I CAN LOAD UP PAST 200GRS WITH BARNES X BULLETS AND TAKE CAPE BUFFALO OR KODIAC IF I CHOOSE... ONLY A SUICIDAL FOOL WOULD ATTEMPT THAT SOMETHING LIKE THAT WITH A ZIPPER ROUND.

NOW TO BE FAIR I DO LOVE MY 30CALIBER CHOICES BUT MANY ARE AS BAD OR WORSE THAN ANY OF THE LIL ZIPPER ROUNDS.... I STAY IN THE 308 AND 300WSM RANGE, ABSOLUTELY HATE 30 30 WITH A PURPLE PASSION AND CANT STAND THE OVER RATED STATUS OF 30-06 SO I AM NOT PREDJUDICED AGAINST JUST LIL ZIPPER ROUNDS

BUT TO EACH THEIR OWN... WE ALL HAVE OUR INDIVIDUAL PREFERENCES IN LIFE RIGHT BOYZ?

I have a little 22 I shoot shorts out of for frogs and birds. It's really old, my great uncle gave it to me a few years ago. He kept it in the back of his truck for coyotes. My other 22 is a newer marlin, I like it a lot. Best semi auto I've seen, it never jams with remingtons or winchesters. JJ, I like a 22-250 a little bit. I used my cousin's for picking off groundhogs. I like a 30-30 for around here, I don't get many long shots up in the mountains, and it's big enough to do the job. The first deer I ever shot at was a 10 point and it got away, I got a pretty good shot on it with a 243 but it rolled down a hill and crossed the creek.

:mad:Now I use a 30-30 or a 270. Up in Ohio I use a bow or a muzz, there's some big deer up there.

ALEX A NICE LIL PUMP ACTION SHOTGUN IN ABOUT 20 GA OR 12 GA WOULD DO ALL YOU NEED... DONT HAVE TO BE OVERLY PRECISE AS THEY THROW "A PATTERN OF SHOT" SO MARKSMAN SKILLS CAN BE NEGOTIATED A TAD WITH A SHOTGUN. EITHER SIZE WOULD HAVE PLENTY OF STOPPING POWER FOR HUMAN OR SMALLER SIZED ANIMALS AT CLOSER RANGES AND EITHER SHOULD BE MANAGEABLE FOR YOU WITH A SMALL AMOUNT OF FAMILIARIZATION AND PRACTICE... IT WOULD TAKE CARE OF ANYTHING YOU ROUTINELY SEE THERE AND IF YOU WATCH YOUR LOCAL PAWN SHOPS I BET YOU COULD GET 1 THAT WOULD SUIT YOUR NEEDS EASILY AND FOR THE LEAST AMOUNT OF EXPENSE

Robby For Better Performance All Around Look At The Marlin Lever In 35remington... Super Combination For Close Or Mid Range Deer. Phenominal Knock Down And Better Range And Accuracy Than 30 30 For About The Same Weight And Recoil Of 30 30

Now The Newest Latest Craze (and I Have To Say I Am Impressed And Like It Alot) Is The Marlin .308mlr--- Very Promising For 300 Yds Or Less

I Routinely Hunt Appalachian Mountain Country, I Understand Steep Brushy Tight Terrain. I Also Routinely Look For Powerlines In This Country --- Once Found I Take My Old Lazy Butt To High Ground With A Commanding View Of Said Powerlines, Find Me A Nice Spot To Get Bunkered In, Set Up With The .300wsm And Wait. This Puts The Deer In A Sniper Version Of The Old "frogger" Video Game

JJ, thanks for the tips I'm looking for a new deer rifle. After I get one I have to find a new bow, and by then I'll be looking for another pistol. It never ends, it's hard to feed a hatching and gun addiction with how much money I have.
