Small egg, why?

Newbie here. And my hen is a newbie at laying as well. She has only laid 10 total since she started 11 days ago. She has been great! Her eggs are a beautiful color and they are usually the same color and the same size. However, today her egg was small weird-shaped and white. Why did this happen? She is unhappy with the new food choice of pellets. She prefers the crumbles but I find that it is wasteful with all the powdery pieces at the bottom of the Bowl that no one eats. Did the small egg happen because she's stressed out and wants her real food? Is she sick. Is the food not nutritional enough? Thanks for your advice. Here's a picture of the egg 20180920_131549.jpg 20180920_131635-1.jpg

Sadly, I’m not an expert myself but it probably is because of the difference in her diet... Try giving her what she is used to and see if it goes back to normal, also is the other chicken you own laying as well? I’m not sure but keep us posted on what happens!

hi. thank you for you reply. the other chicken is not laying yet...i think. my first reaction was it was her first egg...a pullet egg, but she isn't even red in the face yet. come on girl! yes, i guess i ll return to the other food. it seems like such a waste. thanks again. happy day.

I wouldn't worry too much about the feed change,
I seriously doubt that had much to so with it except for a bit of stress,
unless the nutrition levels are drastically different.

Just give her time to get used to the new feed,
switching from crumble to pellets is often a bit of a challenge.

Chickens can be picky and don't like change,
but they get over it if you give them a chance.
