Small eggs??

What kind of quail do you have my eggs are tiny mine are speckled itialian they fall through 1x1in welded wire fencing
I have a white quail with brown feathers on head and back. And one is a pharaoh with lighter color than normal. And the hen that died was golden italian, and male is of very unique color. He is pharaoh with a spot of white feathers on chest and some speckled feathers on chest.he is very small in size

They're great most pharaoh quail are small so them laying small eggs is not surprising

To my understanding larger eggs will result in chicks with genes for larger eggs. It is a common misconception that big birds => big eggs.

big eggs => birds that will lay more big eggs (independent of bird size)
large birds => large chicks (independent of egg size)

of course the freakishly big eggs you should not hatch as those are usually double yolkers or have issues (you'll know when you see them haha!). I've had quail lay crazy big ones that were 2-2.5x the size of store eggs. Small hens too, major props to them!

Yesss i am going to hatch larger eggs in the next hatch. The hen that lays larger eggs is a pharaoh but i wanted to get some nice colored chicks. Perhaps i should get chicks from pharaoh hen's eggs and then breed the chicks selectively for other colours. I want italian and white hens with larger eggs. But first I would have to go with Pharaoh chicks.

Here's a quail genetics calculator if you want to experiment with colors! I found it super useful as I am going to breed my pharoah hens with my more colorful males :p
My male is a pharaoh (with markings of a tibetan tuxedo on his chest). So i got really nice babies.
1 white baby with a white mom
2 golden italian babies with golden italian mom
1standard pharaoh baby(with golden italian mom)
And 1 looks like pharaoh tuxedo( with golden italian mom).
They are still 5-6 days old. But i can guess their colours.
