I have a Barred Plymouth Rock and a Black Australorp that I got at the same time at the same farm when they were just starting to lay. It's been 4 months now and they both still lay tiny pullet eggs. I read that they are LARGE egg layers and wondered if anyone here has these breeds and what size eggs they lay?

I had 7 Barred Rocks from TSC, August chicks.
In their first year of Laying most eggs were medium to large size (USA). One laid small size.
Second year sizes were mostly large with a couple of XL and a medium.
Here is a carton of Barred Rock eggs when they were 17 months old. I still had 7 hens at the time.

This carton is XL size. Notice the eggs don't fill most holes.
I had 5 Golden Comets before getting the Barred Rocks and I was used to getting mostly Jumbo eggs that wouldn't fit in this carton.
But I still liked the BR enough to get 4 more. They are 7 weeks old. GC

The eggs from my other chickens which are Amberlink and Isa Browns weigh 2.6 - 2.8 oz., the ones from the Barred and Australorp only weigh 1.8 oz on average.
