Hello,
I have 5 eggs that are on day 17 from my own flock. I decided to candle to see if they were on track. The tip of the egg was clear, apart from a few blood vessels. They were all moving around, and most of the eggs were dark, except for the air cell and the tip. Is this a problem? This is my first hatch and I really hope it goes well.
The temperature has been 99.5 the whole time and I have 3 thermometers to verify. The air cells look to be the correct size.

Yep, pretty normal. The tip should also include some blood vessels, and the further into the tip, the better. Some will tend to fill up the tip later along. But if you have a little clear area there, its not a huge deal. The chick may hatch a little wet/gooey. Could indicate humidity a bit too high, but see how it goes.

Good luck! Keep us posted. :)

Ok. Sounds good :clap
I definitely will keep y’all updated.
Should I lower the humidity for the last day? It’s been around 20% for that past week or so because the air cells weren’t quite as big as I wanted, but they oook good now.

20% is plenty low. What breed are they? You could even wait till day 19 to increase humidity, or even watch for the first internal pip, then crank it up quickly.
They are mixed large fowl. The father is a speckled Sussex and the mothers are a variety. Tomorrow I am going to draw the air cells, so I’ll post a picture the to see what you think. Or, would it be wise to start lockdown a day early, but not raise the humidity? So I can take out the turner tonight and do the final candling. I could post a picture of the air cell size and that would give me a extra day to make any adjustments. Day 18 starts early tomorrow morning, so it would basically be time to stop turning anyways.
