Smooth Silkie (Cross) - 8 wks old

What do you guys think? This has been my favorite chick from my silkie hatch. I’m so worried it’s a rooster It’s 8 weeks old.

He's very cute, but he's not a silkie. Most likely a silkie cross.

Silkie and silkie crosses are not my forte, so I will wait for someone else to weigh in on gender. He does have a wide comb for his age. You may end up needing to wait longer to confirm if it's a cockerel.

agree with Pyxis - true silkies are not smooth feathered.

Thank you for the replies, I really don’t care if he’s a “true” silkie. I like him anyway no matter the breed. The lady sold the eggs as silkie eggs and this is the only oddball from the hatch. I’m more interested in guessing if it’s a pullet or no.

Updated picture! Now I’m really confused. It’s now 11 weeks old. I still don’t know about the friend there next to her/him either The black one does look more like a pullet now, but it does stand offs with my roosters and jumps in the air at him with her claws (or his claws) like a rooster would.
