sn0wwhite's Wichita Coop for the Twin Cities

snOw: I'd be digging in the owner's manual for the 800 number and getting a UPS return label printed off with money coming back to me. Not acceptable. Disappointing for sure. They'll most likely stand behind their product and give you refund or send out a new one to try. That's the thing with things like that --usually they are pretty good about money back or a new one.

Well, I'm cautiously optimistic on the door. I unplugged and re-plugged the battery to reset it today, and it worked successfully this evening. I will watch it obsessively for the next week at least.

We also got the electric in, and finished the framed shower curtain panels to protect the run from wind and snow. We can officially get a blizzard now and I will rest easy knowing they will be fine.

I am going to run the light bulb in the morning for a couple of hours to see if I can't get some eggs... My husband believes they are just four expensive pets at this point. They do turn the compost... but they create most of that in the first place anyway.

And, Officially, the coop is done. 2 lights and outlets added for both a light in the coop and one in the run and the water heater base is ready. The framed shower curtain panels are done and in. Maybe.... I'll make one more panel to fit on the top front if snow blows in but that will be a wait and see.

My friend Nate says we should build a greenhouse now.

Yay!

How does it feel to be done? I wish I was done, but I think I'm just going to call my coop a perpetual work in progress.

It feels weird. We plugged the water heater in and I stopped to think about what I need to do next and I was like, "omg! We are actually done!"

Here's a picture with the run light on. Chickens are asleep so I didn't want to turn the coop light on. And happily the Ador1 door closed successfully for the second night in a row since I reset it.

And I just saw that we have an alert for a winter storm with a possible 4-7 inches of snow on Tuesday.

Bring it.

I like snow until January.
Then I'm completely over it.

It does help that I feel ready for it though...
