Our Ancona female is unable to eat and is losing weight rapidly. We live on a river with little snails but she got one too big to pass. Been 2 days. We can move it up but only slime comes out of her mouth. Any ideas? My husband tried to pinch and break it but couldn't and didn't want to hurt her. She's going to starve to death if we can't get this thing out of her. Can anyone help give us some idea of how to help her?
Thank you.

Thats pretty wild ive never read anything here about taking things from the crop.

I’m lost on this one too. I was thinking it might be easier to get to go on down instead of coming back up. But I’ll defer to everyone else.

Any special treats she likes to eat? I wonder if something coated in coconut oil might help smooth it down?

A vet probably is the best bet, if that’s an option.

That's the weirdest thing i've heart about a duck! No idea if it helps, but snail houses are made out of calcium-carbonate which dissolves in acid, so what about giving the duck a little vinegar to weaken the house?
Thats a genius thaught. ide put a snail shell in vinagar right now as a test but i dont have either
