Snake Eating Eggs

Rat snakes are attracted to rodent scent. It stumbled upon the eggs by accident. The O.P. has rodent pee and poo attracting the snake.
We have a rodent problem too. But only inherited the rat snake problem. Snakes stop looking for rodent dens when they fill up on egg too. Then the rodent population explodes. Chicken eggs interrupt the circle of life.View attachment 1353355

Naw. Just raised by West Texas women in our family. My aunt had a drawerful of rattles from rattlesnakes she’d killed with a hoe.

Nope. She had a “snake-killing hoe” which she’d Chop the rattler’s head off, flip the snake & chop rattlers off, turn the hoe around & dig a shallow hole, bury the head, pick up rattle, and walk off with the hoe over her shoulder like some kind of rifle! Took about 3-5 minutes.

Found a rat snake in my coop. He had already killed one chick and was in the process of swallowing it.. he won’t get another one, that’s for sure.

If I caught a snake eating eggs, I'd kill it and eat it. I heard they are delicious. I would like to know for sure!

Have never tried it and don’t want to. I usually let the nonvenimous snakes go but when they are putting my animals in danger,nope, they gotta go. Killed a copperhead in horse pen the other day too.
