snake in the house

This is the best place I could find to put this question. I have a 4 1/2 foot ball python snake in my house (as a pet). When the pullets start laying hopefully in the next month do you think it would be ok to give Curly the eggs that are damaged or soft shelled that the humans won't eat? I can't give it to my dog because she is on special food due to allergies and I would hate to see anything go to waste. I know he would have no problem eating them as he eats large rats every other week, and that's getting expensive. Thanks.

As someone who likes snakes, I am guessing it would be fine. I would do a little more research online and ask some more knowlegeable people. Perhaps you can get away from rodents? I must say I have not owned any snakes, but the first time I was bit by a snake (king snake) I had captured had an impact on me. I became much less afraid of being bit! I unhinged his jaws from my arm, appoligized to him for holding him till he got mad/afraid, and let him go. Now the rattler in my backyard a month ago did not get picked up

and I am glad he didn't bite my stupid siamese who was a foot away!

I have an x boyfriend who owned Boa's.... I really dont want to say this because I am such a chicken lover, but he not only fed them eggs, but he aslo fed them baby chicks... until one chick bit and hurt the Boa. After that, the Boa would not go near a chick, so he had to supply it with something else, but did still feed it the eggs.

Feeding Curly eggs will not hurt him. He may or may not eat them as they will have a much different smell than what he is used to eating. They probably will not be warm like the prey he is used to eating either and that may make a difference too. The thing you will have to remember is he is made to eat rodents, birds etc. with all of the hair, feathers, organs and things. All of those things have vitamins, minerals, nutrients and things that Curly needs to be healthy. If you feed him eggs exclusively, he will be missing a lot of the things he needs. I would say go ahead and try it as a treat and see if he will like it. But I would still feed him rodents as his main diet.

Ball pythons don't tend to eat eggs so you'll likely have no luck with feeding them - chicks they will take but I'd suggest freshly killed or frozen/thawed for a few reasons - damage to the snake being one and trauma to the chicks being the other - you can kill a chick in a much more humane fashion than a snake can!
