I understand. Though it may come to your asking a mod to close the topic.

I think Al was talking about me being the wierdo snake lover

We had a meet-up and I took a snake to it! Caught it at school and being the resident science wierdo I handle those things.

While I love my snakes...goodness...do what you gotta do to feel safe and comfortable. i would never tell folks to do some of the stuff I do! Get educated on some stuff...education is a good thing and this is a good place to come for education.

Most venomous snake bites to horses are not fatal. If the horse dies it is usually due to the swelling suffocating the horse (most horses get bit on the nose cuz they are trying to figure out what that is...and they say curiosity killed the cat!) i wouldn't let a snake play wiht my horse..if I had a horse

Snakes will come back once removed if they know they will get a easy meal of eggs. They do make great belts adn a tasty meal.

Most bites are to the hands of white males between the ages of 16 and 26...alcohol is involved in most cases...go figure

Nice gun...those shot shells are the best things ever invented for snake control. I have them for my .357, .22, and I think that is it. .410's work the best...and you can stay plenty far back!

I have caught a bunch already...several bulls, hognose, a few rattlers, stopped counting garters and such. I really need a plains King snake though...I would so love a copperhead...but I like my wife more

I am terrified of snakes, and terrified for my dogs and other animals around snakes. They all get shot when they are too close to me or my animals.

Just as difficult as it is for someone to not understand why people have to kill kill kill, it's just as hard for me to understand putting dangerous animals above humans and their pets/livestock. I guess we'll just have to accept that we will never understand each other

Yes, I know they have their place, and they control the rat and mouse population, but snakes such as rattlesnake, cottonmouth and copperhead are dangerous to people, their kids and their animals. And on the flipside, I'm baffled as to why people wouldn't protect themselves, their kids or their animals from them. I guess we'll all just have to wonder about each other

However, thank you for posting the images of the snakes. I've never seen a copperhead before. Though I have seen way too many rattlesnakes for my taste.

I think we would all protect family from them, if it came to that.

You might be helped by researching how many people die of snakebite in any given year. Very few.

Kind of like airplanes. I hate them, but have no logical reason to prefer driving. I have flown many times. It is obviously safer to fly. But I will drive from now on, thank you.

My sister is terrified of birds. What kind of world would we have if everyone killed everything they feared. Killing something to protect your family or animals, I can understand, but not just because you fear them.

Cats do more harm than any snake would, rather have snakes in my barns anytime than a cat, that kill alot more then mice.

No I dont have small children , but would catch any copperhead i find and remove it.

Not telling people to do the same, but to kill a snake because you dont know if its danger???

Like killing every dog you see, because some kill people(more than snakes)

It makes no sense to have killed the 17 corn snakes, which you were able to identify and are obviously harmless. They posed no threat, except to the mice and rats they would have been ridding your property of.

....thank you for validating my sanity!

Roy :

You know what I mean LOL your not in that category, we look to you to ID all of our slithering serpents. For me it is doing work or looking for something and you move a piece of equipment and low and behold there is big snake taking a nap. I step back and think wow that was close while my heart is racing, if I don't kill it it will slither off into another hiding spot for meor my family to find later, so I do not like living with this constant semi fear of being bitten even by a non poisonous snake. I do remember us tlking about burning the wood pile but it is still way to dry, you have met Alyssa and I hate to think of her getting bitten because I failed to kill it when I had the chance.
