Snakes Chickens and 2 year olds

What is it with little boys and snakes.

Two days ago I was out working on our chicken run and I heard my almost 3yo starting to cry. It took me a while to figure out what happened because he was sobbing so hard "Big...

..me" Poor little guy. His brother (almost 5) had stepped on a gardener snake, then the 3yo tried to pick it up. My little one was more upset that the "big worm" had betrayed him than actually hurt.

Too bad this hasn't taught my boys to leave the snakes alone

It may be a name thing...I am a Mandy too and I used to collect the cat's presents of dead mice and put them into bags and hide them under the porch. I do not recall why I did it...but I did lol.

HMM Ill have to ask my friend Mandy if she also used to collect dead animals as a child

It's not just boys. My mom told a story, that when she was 10-11 yo She went to a construction site in Jamaica Plains NYC. Filled a bucket with little garter snakes and filled her nephew's (toddler) pockets, legs, sleeves etc with hundreds of snakes. Then she left him on Nana's doorstep and rang the bell. Now I hear that Nana was terrified of snakes. Mom said she heard from about 2 blocks away "Arlene Jean you better not come home" Mom said she stayed away for a couple weeks.

Mom did have a wicked sense of humor! Lol! She's been passed on a long time now. She'd laugh at that post and be pleased as punch. She used to say she COULD take it with her. She'd just convert it to steak and have a BBQ when she got there.

Imp- Guess where she thought she'd end up.

As an adult she was afraid of snakes. That's one of the reasons we moved to Alaska.
