Snakes with an S Graphic

Whooo I'll take that non poisonous 6 ft. long Black Snake over a Rattler or a Copperhead. He keeps the mice and rats down since I can't have cats right now due to the coyotes loving to snack on them.

I'm not gonna start a war about snakes here.If you like copperheads that's your gig. If they leave me & my livestock alone its all good. If I catch one in my coop eating the eggs he's history.I know he's just looking for something to eat that's fine. My thoughts are that once he finds the eggs he will return for another hand out. He did more than startle me . The snake was trying to bite me. I had 20 wood duck houses that I monitored for 20 years I've seen more snakes than the average Joe. I'm gonna do what I have to do that's my choice. If I can prevent from one ruining my day or week I guarantee I will. Everyone acts like we're running out of snakes in the world. Trust me we're not running short on chicken snakes or copperheads.

No war. Your right to do what you want ...

My right to have my opinion... and report the facts.

Sorry if I offended you.

We let a hognose go a couple weeks ago .. he was cute.

We've killed and skinned a snake this year .. and the next copperhead we find, I want to take to the taxidermist .. or, if it's big enough, have a hatband made...

My coop is snake proof (unless they are really really really tiny ... so I haven't even killed smaller rat snakes.. I DO know we have a monster living out back, but have only found skins .. and lost a couple of ducks to him.

I'm more worried about coons..

Shhhhhhhh-might want to edit that out of your post...don't let P&W get wind of that.

Yep!,. Poisonous snakes will be killed!!,. anything else,. we haul off,..except for the awesomely pretty salt and pepper king snake we saw in the yard,..and the cute yellow ribbon snakes,.. and those little ring-necks,.

so glad you were not bitten,..... our free range all day and the coop door is left open for them to get to the nest boxes,.. so I dread this happening to me or DD,.. I'm going to go put a sharp shovel near the coop today!

Well, it's always good to check the protected status, I suppose. We have Timber rattlers here, and I was REALLY wanting a hatband out of one of those .. I guess that won't happen... LOL

Although I LOVE the scientific name of the Timber rattler. Cortalus HORRIDUS ... bwa hahahaha
