Snakes with an S Graphic

[4 Love of Baby Chickens]

Whooo I'll take that non poisonous 6 ft. long Black Snake over a Rattler or a Copperhead. He keeps the mice and rats down since I can't have cats right now due to the coyotes loving to snack on them.

My coop is snake proof (unless they are really really really tiny ... so I haven't even killed smaller rat snakes.. I DO know we have a monster living out back, but have only found skins .. and lost a couple of ducks to him.

I'm more worried about coons..

Yep!,. Poisonous snakes will be killed!!,. anything else,. we haul off,..except for the awesomely pretty salt and pepper king snake we saw in the yard,..and the cute yellow ribbon snakes,.. and those little ring-necks,.



so glad you were not bitten,..... our free range all day and the coop door is left open for them to get to the nest boxes,.. so I dread this happening to me or DD,.. I'm going to go put a sharp shovel near the coop today!

Well, it's always good to check the protected status, I suppose. We have Timber rattlers here, and I was REALLY wanting a hatband out of one of those .. I guess that won't happen... LOL

Although I LOVE the scientific name of the Timber rattler. Cortalus HORRIDUS ... bwa hahahaha
