sneezing and nasal discharge - should I worry? UPDATE: FULL RECOVERY!!

It's only 5 or 6 dominant hens that chase and attack her, the rest of the flock is treating her OK...

Why is "flock order" such a DRAMAH anyways!

If at all possbile, could you keep the ones that chase and attack her, confined to the coop/run area, whilst she free ranges with the flock members that dont attack her for the day?

They only attack her IN the coop, they don't want her near food or water... outside the coop = no problem.

Hence the problem, LOL!

Crossing fingers things settle down and return to normal soon.

PLEASE!

Have two feeding/watering stations in the coop/run area. Its best for this exact purpose. Those jealous little ladies need to learn to share! (hmmmm, where have I heard that before??)

Did we every figure out what was wrong with her?From beging of thread my chicken symptoms sound similar.
Did you give any treatment? I might have missed it. Many, Many , words.

Still not sure what she had/has...

She was in the house and given antibiotics for 10 days, the nasal discharge and gurgling lungs dried up but the sneezing is still present.

Really hoping it doesn't come back.

If it does, she will come back in the house for a round of different antibiotics...

She's so small compared to her sisters, even if she's eating well.

I might have to deworm the whole flock just in case...

I just posted a reply to the "Why are people feeding birds yogurt?" thread. Several pages back someone suggested feeding the birds yogurt as a probiotic. You might want to check that thread out.

the probiotics contained in yogurt are so minimal, I give my pets real probiotics when they need to get their intestines back in shape.

get the capsules at the drugstore, walmart, grocery store, and for small doses I open the capsule and sprinkle a bit of the powder on a bit of canned dog food - hens will FIGHT for it and there you go, concentrated probiotics that really work
