Sneezing and Wheezing cockerel *Video

Wazine only treats large roundworms...

Safeguard (fenbendazole 10%) dosage is 0.23 cc/mL per pound for 5 consecutive days...
x2. Not a pea size amount. Paste or liquid, it's 0.23 ml per pound.

With 19 birds I think you should buy a bottle of Valbazen.

5 / 2.2 x 50 / 100 = 1.14 ml per 5 pound bird per day
1.14 ml x 19 = 21.6 ml per day
21.6 ml per day for 5 days = 108 ml to de-worm 19 5 pound birds.

One tube of paste = 25 ml, so you would need one tube per day.

Hopefully my math is not too confusing. :hide

X2

I have a lot, Valbazen goes much further... even with the 3 day regimen I do...

Guess I better get that ordered then, will be way more economical and convenient. Getting paste from a tube measured into syringes, less than ideal for sure.

Should I wait for fecal results?

Bruno sounds a bit better this morning. Small wheeze but need to get close to hear it now. Could he be fighting this off on his own? Or could the Tylan have already had an effect?

Glad he's better.....impossible to say what the problem is/was or what improved it.
That's the problem with speculative diagnosis and treatment.
Did you only give the Tylan, nothing else?
You gave him only one dose(of 4?) of the Tylan?
I'd finish that off, not good to shorten AB treatments,
then wait for the fecal results to see if wormers are needed.
Hopefully they report species and counts, and your vet can help determine if treatment is needed.

Yup just the one shot.(and the negligably useful ivermectin)

Considering switching to oral Tylan though, rather not risk that. Plus the confusion of IM vs Subcutaneous...
