Snow!

Quote:
Thanks Lynn

Well, we're just west of the highway a couple blocks. The stated elevation of the town is 3500', and that's probably about what we are here. We have friends across town who may be 100' higher and the snow pattern is strikingly different. We left their home one evening after dinner and it was snowing. By the time we reached town it had turned to slush, and across I5 at our place it was raining.

Our property is ideal for our needs. It's an acre surrounded with manzanita, many oak trees, maple, cedar and fir trees. We keep carving holes into the manzanita in order to place structures, gardens, etc.

Spring Hill is a short mountain that is directly between us and Mount Shasta. From the foot of that hill flows the Upper Sacramento river. That's the headwaters. It's a spring about 40' wide and flows steadily year-round. From our front yard we can see the peak of Mount Shasta peeking over the top of Spring Hill. In the winter after the Oak leaves have fallen, we see the mountain from our bedroom window.

It's really a miracle that we managed to pull off moving here. We feel very fortunate.
