As you may have noticed, seven of the eggs have gotten lighter since the last time I've weighed them. This is a good thing because most of the chicks hatch at 6-7 grams, so it shows they've been developing. The next time I'll be weighing the eggs will be Tuesday, August 28th because it's candling day as well. This is when I decide which eggs have a chance at hatching.

Today, I was supposed to candle the eggs and try to figure out which ones had a chance at hatching, but due to difficulties with flashlights and such, I could not. So instead of risking the lives of possible quail chicks, I decided to keep all of the eggs in the incubator for lockdown. Currently, I believe that at the absolute most, 11 may be able to hatch, but in reality, about 5-7 should hatch.
Here is an image of the eggs in lockdown...

Hopefully a few will hatch on Friday, there will definitely be pictures here if they do.

Today we have a fourth quail attempting to hatch, late of course, but trying. It has been idle for a while though, so we're hoping it can make it.

For the other chicks, they've all gotten a bit bigger, and put on some weight. One yellow one has gained 8 grams since it hatched, the other yellow has gained 5 grams. The stripey guy has gained 7 grams. My dog is fascinated by the tiny chicks as well, so here are some pictures.

So far it seems that they are healthy, they eat drink, and occasionally, go on mad dashes!

I have an urgent issue. We had to help the chick that was trying to hatch out, and it seemed fine at first. We tried giving it electro-light water in a very shallow pool, and it drank some. Now it seems like it's choking, and shakes with every breath. I've tried rubbing the crop, but nothing came out. If anyone has advice on what to do, please post it on this thread, as fast as you can!
