Before this compressed bale above I was buying those dumb little bags labeled for rabbits. One 25 dollar bale has lasted me 10 months.

It will work but it's a waste of money.
That may last a week or two.

I wouldn't worry too much about the type of hay. Just get it some hay.
Hay is better than carrots.
