So… is this a wild or escaped/set free/ domestic rabbit?

R.I.P. lol

i assume it’s like the 2 by 2 chicken coops that claim to hold up to 8 chickens?
Exactly.

Also, rabbits tend to do much better indoors. That way they can free roam, they're safe from predators, they won't have a heat stroke, and they're closer to you.
Hutches are usually much too small, cheaply made, way overpriced, and they don’t do much to protect the rabbit from weather or predators.
Keep in mind that rabbits can die from a heart attack. So even if predators can't physically harm them, they can literally scare them to death.

Rabbits can be litter trained, and with good quality hay, lots of toys, and bunny proofing, they make great house pets. It especially helps if they've been fixed.
A dog pen like this would work well

Would that pen work for outside too? Just add in some things to make it good for outside?

Erm, somewhat. We have lots of spare pallets that we aren’t using for anything, I was thinking of building the hutch/house/run/thingy with them if I couldn’t find one
Basic points for rabbit housing:

--needs to keep predators out
--needs to keep rabbit in (rabbits chew through wood, and dig tunnels in dirt)
--needs to protect rabbit from bad weather (sun, rain, snow, with at least part of it sheltered from wind as well)
--needs to be large enough
--needs to stay cool enough in summer. Rabbits usually have more trouble with heat than cold.

A wire mesh floor is great for keeping rabbits in, and lets waste fall through. But it has a major problem, that if the rabbit sits on the wire all the time, they often get sore feet. So a solid floor, a litter box, and regular cleaning may be a better arrangement. (If you do want wire mesh for part of the floor, look for rabbit cage wire with 1/2" by 1" holes, preferably 14 gauge. Hardware cloth often comes in 19 gauge, which is much weaker, and will sag badly in a short time.)

If you take the rabbit to live inside your house, that takes care of some of the points, like weather protection, and keeping out wild predators. Of course if you have a dog or cat that lives indoors, you will have to protect the rabbit from them.

Could straw/ other rabbit bedding on the wire work? Replaced as needed?

No, that does not work well. You end up with a mess of filthy straw tangled into the wire. It is almost impossible to clean out. Even if the rabbit does not poop & pee on the straw, the straw will still tangle and mat into the wire.

If you want to use straw bedding, make a solid floor, and use the straw over that.
If you want wire, keep it bare of any bedding.

You can sometimes have one section each way. Having a wall between them, with a rabbit-sized door, helps keep the straw where it belongs. Some rabbits are happy to keep things separate, but some others will drag the straw out and spread it on the wire anyway, and I have no way to predict what any specific rabbit would do.

No, it would need so much modifying that it wouldn't be worth it.
A shed type enclosure would be better if the rabbit has to be outside. Something like this, with plenty of solid floor space, a roof, and hardware cloth sides.

Some people turn sheds into bunny enclosures too
