I so did not know that - mine spiked to 104 the other night and I was about 4 days into marans eggs - I just figured I fried them and tossed them. Guess I shouldn't have now reading your post

Bought a new bator thinking that was the problem although the other one was brand new. Maybe I'll hatch some more eggs someday - I am waiting till after we close on the house. Things feel so up in the air right now.

I'd wait too house stuff seems so hectic and I'll be in that cinario here in a bit we'll be starting to look for our first house here in just a few weeks.....so much involved it's crazy!!!! That's one of the big reasons im incubating now, so that way I wont have chicks to care for when we'll be busy with all of that stuff.

OMG...so sorry.. My bator air temp fluctuates between 97 and 104 but the water wiggler stays between 99 and 101 at those air temps. They can actually take a lot of temp changes...guess God made them that way because they were designed to hatch outside with an unpredictable hen!

Niki I know the feeling.....I absoulutely hate cracking open eggs and finding out that the chick is still alive...I hate dropping eggs when candeling worse....So that is why now I officially leave all eggs in the bator unless im 99-100% sure the egg isn't developing. And with Coturnix it is pretty hard.
Good Luck with the rest of the hatch!
