Where do you find Poultry Dust (Online) we live in a very rural area.

The active ingredients in the poultry dust is the same as Sevin.

I THINK the poultry dust is permethrin. Not Sevin/carbaryl.
You can get it from the online poultry suppliers. I don't know which is the best one to order from. I have ordered from Jeffers myself for other things, and was pleased. Do a google search for poultry dust?

I put out random cat litter pans (no litter... lol) and do half sand, half Diotomacious Earth... they can (and will) dust in it when they feel the need. At first I had only one box... very quickly I seen it wasn't enough... there were three trying to roll in it at the same time. lol. Silly things.

I did notice when I first started to do this... they bathed alot... now it's not so often. Probrably a indicator that it works.

ETA: I should mention, so you don't run the chance of not thinking about it... try to put at least one pan/box out of the rain so it stays dry. I got one in their coop for that reason.

Thank you. I wish I could take the credit but I had read it in one of my MANY chicken books. Can't think of which one to give the credit, though.

Actually Sevin is an extremely effective pesticide, it also is not going to be taken off the market in 2011. It is no longer going to be labeled for use on poultry.

"Poultry Dust" is not, to the best of my knowledge a trademarked product name, but rather is a descriptive term that can be used for any pesticide in dust form that can be used on poultry. Permethrin, pyrethrins and carbaryl are all common ones, but there are other active ingredients that could be used. When I googled "poultry dust," there were several listings that included "Poultry Dust" in the product name, along with other terms. Some had permethrin as the active ingredient, others had carbaryl. I also found this listing which shows additional poultry dust products, along with land grant university poultry department recommendations: http://msucares.com/poultry/diseases/pesticides.html

It would be nice to know "the rest of the story" on that. Glad it is not going away.

To get the rest of the story you'll have to talk to Dow, as they requested the use change.
