So freaking embarrassed -- but what to do??

Stink Bugs were accidentally introduced into the US in northeastern PA in 2001 and are multiplying rapidly

Stink Bug Invasion

Penn State Master Gardener advises ~
Spray or get a chicken: Stailey suggested that an insecticide containing pyrethrin can help kill bugs outside, though the task may be hard because the bugs' big shells protect them.

"I tell people they can get chickens," she said. "The chickens will eat stink bugs."

We have them all over the place here. I haven't seen my chickens try any yet, but I'm going to catch some and see if they like them tomorrow. It is amazing how many there are esp. since they have only been in the US for 9 years. I hate to see how many there will be in a few years!

I think maybe they haven't been in your area for that long. We have had them down South since I can remember. I learned as a kid not to squish them because they stink.

I knew those little buggers had been around a while! I hated them when I was little...hardly see them anymore. I dunno if it's the chickens or guineas getting them, or if they're just all at your place

We get invaded by ladybugs now

I hate bugs in the house!

They are here in New Jersey. Three years ago a few, last year hundreds, and this year there are thousands swarming the house. It is outright war. In about a month the invasion of the Japanese ladybugs will start. I don't mind bugs, but those that want to live in my house for the winter must die.

I'm with you!! I was always telling my kids that it wasn't right to hate any living creature, but I am changing my policy.

Three years ago I first saw them, last year there were hundreds. This year - it is a horror movie!!

This breed is new to the US and it is killing off the other varieties. It stinks way more than the indigenous and does not pollinate our plants, it only eats them! No natural enemies and a hard shell which makes them very hearty and hard to even poison!

I taped my doors shut. We have one door to use. But, I just discovered that the clothes we had in the attic are all infested and most likely ruined.

I'm not sure if this would work but last year we had a plague of Jap Beetles. I would make a spray that was VERY affective at killing them. I would mix rubbing alcohol, castor oil and dish soap. 1 little spritz and they would start to die. It would be a little messy inside but it is worth a try if they are that numerous.

Good luck.
