So how is Zane doing?

Cyn, back again (knocked off last night in the middle of posting). Please check the following:

The Collatamp G is Gentamycin impregnated Collagen sponge (the latest and greatest replacement for (`sulfas') in`closed' wound treatment). $$$

Some more info on other treatments for this class of infection is outlined in the following link (yes, rabbit abcesses, but useful info - other possible antibiotics/prep).

I know that the ointment is effective topically. The powder may or may not do the job (depends on how resistant the organism(s) are). Yes, the powder is applied directly to the affected area. `Packing' the wound is a misnomer. It can be `dusted' into/onto the most affected area. If used in concert with the systemic antibiotic it might push the `intractable' `bugs' over the edge.

If the next course of systemics doesn't clear the infection up, you might consider calling these folks and seeing if the price is still the same:

I know the same is available for use in aquariums, but I suspect this source is a bit better re: quality control.

This is the most complete reference I can find on situations similar to yours: http://www.ejbjs.org/cgi/reprint/22/4/952.pdf

Will
keep checking back,
Hang in there!

We all love Zane and are praying and rooting for him and you, Cyn. Pray this is all cleared up soon!! It is the never-ending story isn't it? This has to be so stressful for you.
I pray your dad is getting along better?

That last area still has a small, firm pocket of fluid and/or infection. John, I'm sorry I missed your post. You're so great to try to help. I'll check out the stuff you gave me the links for in a few minutes. He actually mated Gypsy yesterday, but if she was resisting at all, he'd not be able to do that. She likes him alot, however, LOL.

Cyn, just logging on (too much rain we've been picking blackberries and sawing snags). Just check the last of the links provided (I kinda go on tangents) as that actually describes the HOW TO.

Take care and best of luck!
