Four years ago my husband and I made the decision to slow life down a bit and move from the Napa Valley so we could have some land and become more self-sufficient. So we sold our two homes, a piece of land and ended up in Happy Valley, CA.
We both worked for Charles Krug winery owned by the Peter Mondavi family. I was the Executive Assistant to the Mondavi family and he was the Cellar Master supervising the production of the wine making.
I left first in June and he stayed for 6 additional months. When he left they made him an offer that we couldn't refuse. He could return each harvest season and work for 3 months, continue our insurance year round and have housing in one of the guest homes on the winery property. And, he would make as much there in 3 months as he could working here all year.
Well, the long of the story is that his 3 months starts tomorrow. It is so hard to have him go. He is everything to me. Guess that is why I fell in love with him at first sight (yes it does happen) 18 years ago. I try not to cry since it makes him feel bad.
We are extremely thankful to have the work and it affords us the opportunity for him to work on establishing our ranch the other 9 months of the year. But none the less its hard to be without him.
So will be chatting here more to past the time when I'm not working full time and hang out more with my chicky poos who can always turn the frown into a smile.
