So I finally got up the nerve to use a circular saw...

Shudder! I used a circle saw years back a few times on a project. They scare the living bejeebers out of me. I refuse to own one now (have passed up dozens of them that were for sale really cheap).

I bought a band saw and a table saw & have a handheld jigsaw that works for cutting OSB & Plywood. I hope never to use another circle saw in my life. I think I'd rather use a chain saw (and those scare me, too).

I love it!

And I might add this gals favorite battery operated toys say Ryobi on them!

My guy (in construction) jokes that I know the HD tool corral better than him.

I have been working on my drill skills. I managed it strip a few screws yesterday. But I got most of them where I wanted them to go. DH helped me, but I was working against time I needed to get all the plants in before things start to freeze. I needed another bench in the greenhouse. I love what we came up with. I had the basics, but DH was able show me a couple of things that I don't think that I would have gotten on my own. He cut the 45 degree braces for me. At least he didn't take over the project like normal. I want to learn, and the tools don't scare me. It is all about respecting them and keeping your fingers, and what what not you have out of the way. I really love chain saws. I want a small gas power one that has enough power to keep me happy.

Those scroll saws look very enticing too...hmmm
What is the difference between a saws -all and a jigsaw and a scroll saw anyway?
Is it the size? The angles they can cut, the amount of detail? Sooo many questions...
Learning this stuff is going to be GREAT!!!

I am not sure about the difference, but I know that as a kid I loved my dads scroll or jig saw. I think I thought the were girl saws. I do know that they are used for cutting curves, and I still think they are the best.

People ask, how do you cut such a straight line with that saw? I say, It says Skil, right on the side of it. I thought it was the saw.

Seriously, guys, gals, whoever has this huge fear of circular saws, they are as safe as you make them. A sharp blade is of utmost importance, to any saw.

The ones that annoy me, are those cheap ones, with the saftey trigger, in which, you have to push a second button, to allow the trigger to work. Of course, I'm lefthanded, and all of that stuff is designed for right handed people.

I remember seeing the oldtimers jam a wedge into the saftey guard, to keep it out of the way, so that it wouldn't hang up, on the start of the cut....Forget that you did it, set the saw on the ground, and it could walk right over the top of your foot.

Sawsalls are used for destruction. Cutting through ANYTHING. Jigsaws are for cutting circles, anything you need fine control over. Scroll saws are more for the decorative stuff, I think. Hubby doesn't have a scroll saw.

I'll never use a chainsaw, they scare the crud outta me. I'll take a circular saw any day over a table saw. Haven't used a router yet, but I've seen DH use it, it wouldn't be too bad.
