So I tried my hand at making a tiny batch of organic chicken feed....

not worth it even for four chickens. I ordered a bag from Countryside Naturals instead.

VERY curious as to what all is in there. . . I want to make my own food from scratch soon when I need it (winter and spring) but I'd love to know all what is needed in their food. Got calcium, protein, and fat down.

I make my own whole grain feed. (Not with those expensive ingredients from a health food store though..)
About $14 or $15 per 50 lbs. 80% organic.
Granted I buy from an organic feed and seed store and buy in bulk. I have a ton of feed and over $600 for a years supply. But cheap, and my eggs are bright orange and yummy. (I sprout many grains.)

(I am buying for 36 chickens, I do not think it would work for under 12 birds..__)

Half the stuff on that list I already planted out in my free range pasture.
