I keep some free-range bachelor roosters around, too. Without hens to fight over - they all get along great and they do a great job on bug control and compost tilling. Right now, I only have 2 mutt boys roaming, but I had as many as 7, until a fox came a-visiting.

awwww gosh dang predators always have to ruin it for those of us who like to rock out with our cockerels out.... LOL

Good for you. There ain't nothing wrong with having a few purdy roos around the place.

I have 3 polish roos, 1 giant cochin, 1 white Plymouth rock, 1 leghorn, 2 New Jersey, 1 red jungle, 2 spangled hamburg, 1 OEG crele, 1 RIR and a plethora of medium and bantam sized roos.

They all get along just fine, except when the pecking order changes, which is pretty rare.

I Love my ROOS, I have a thing for them too.

I always keep enough hens about though.

My favorites were 2 Silkies and a d'Uccle roo that buddied around - whenever they saw me coming they'd come running as fast as they could on their fat little legs - eyes intent on me - but when they closed the distance - they'd suddenly stop, ignore me and start scratching the bare dirt as if that was what they were coming for all this time.

I'd usually tip the treat bucket a bit and give them something. Sometimes they'd do their rooster dance just for me. The fox got all of them a few weeks ago.
