I'm sorry for the loss of your little buddy. He was a beauty.

If only some of us could be each others neighbors life would be easier in regards to our love for our naimals.
Hopefully, this woman isn't stupid enough to retaliate. But you never know. I feel for the poor Husky also, hopefully it's in a better place and is loved more than it was with her.

I did try to catch it, didn't want to kill it and I blame her for that too. I felt like an idiot begging it not to force me to shoot as I chased it around the yard. It ran away and I thought that would give enough time for animal control to get there to catch it but it came back and tried to get more and then growled at DH. I have a child in a wheelchair and shudder to think what if she'd been outside. Another point against her IMO is all she could talk about was the cost of her dog not the loss of a pet, I think I felt more for it than she did. I can't blame the dog but am irate with idiot owners who can't be bothered with caring for their animals.

This is Buddy. He is a livestock guardian dog (LGD). Breed is Anatolian Shepherd.

He enjoys guarding our chickens. For midnight snacks he prefers stray dogs, coyotes, etc. After several strays and one neighbor dog tried to get a chicken dinner, we got Buddy. The neighbors' dogs now stay home...and so do the neighbors!

Well said! I've got some of your neighbors relations here I think, but after a year of trying to teach them I gave up and haven't seen thier wolf mixes since I made it plain I 'd shoot them if they came back.

It's sad when you get pushed into doing something like that when it would have taken so little on the owners part to have avoided the whole thing. Bless you for the care and compassion it took to prepare that poor dog for a proper burial.

Years ago a neighbors dog attacked my chickens, I had to shoot him as it wasn't the fist time, they had been warned. When I went to let my neighbor know that his dog was dead and he needed to come pick him up I got a rather heated lecture on how the dog was just doing what was natural for a dog to do. I explained that as the #1 roo for my flock I too was doing what was natural, I cant help it if I am better at protecting than the dog was at attacking............He understood

I am sorry for your loss.

He was spectacular. I'm sorry for your loss. I hope you feel at least a tiny bit vindicated that the judge agreed with you that there is as much value in your pet as your irresponsible neighbor's.
