Just a random comment to share and laugh about... I am super new to chicken keeping - I have 8 in my flock that are 11 and 12 weeks old - and I have to confess that it never even occurred to me to consider the sheer volume of output a chicken is capable of while day dreaming about adding them to the fam. I feel like such a dummy! When they were teeny babies, I thought, "Well sure... they poop a lot... like human babies." I blow/hose off the patio and an hour later it looks like I was never there. They have allllll kinds of grassy yard to roam in, but they prefer my patio and its furniture. Sigh.
My husband was outside patiently swatting flies away last night and said, "Did you know they pooped this much?" Umm... no. Tell me, wise ones, does it just get worse the bigger they get or can I cross my fingers that what we have now is as bad as it gets? My 3.5 year old told some friends that we got new pets... Chickens.... and flies.
Well, back to hosing off the patio I go! This is really the only downfall I have found about these funny, sweet creatures so that's not so bad at all. Happy Tuesday!
