Wow! that sucks! Hopefully they did not take it to a chop shop. I have some friends on a forum that lost radios and alot of other expensive tech items. I too am wondering what make got stolen from you

it is (was) a 91 honda accord, one of the top stolen cars here in town. i don't know why it happens so much here, but i think many neighborhoods here in portland have the same problem but most people don't even know.

it was right at 2:20 am and i'm thinking that it was someone from a local bar after last call, but obviously there are professional thieves around if this is happening.

i've often told my friends that i have no reason to own a gun or to fight, i've been able to avoid fighting for 40 years, why start now. this however is a case where i would want one or the other. the thing that kept me awake last night and this morning is that i was so close to catching him.

AND why the he** do i have a bunch of freeloading guard chickens if they aren't going to do their jobs !

oh no I have a 07 accord I hope they arent as popular as the 91 but mine is parked next to are 03 corvette so I guess my accord is problely safe. I had a 2000 prelude before the accord and I worried about it cause the young people like them alot and it was sporty. My accord is are family car and if I was gonna steal a car it wont be a accord. Maybe a viper

My car is a Honda but I expect it will never get stolen because one look inside and the nefarious interloper will run for his or her life! It is a riot of straw, bird seed, countless work papers that start out in neat piles but then explode when an idiot cuts me off in traffic and I have to slam on the brakes, various chicken supplies, and so on.......
Altho if they spot the various stashes of chocolate perhaps the car is toast after all.
Like I said earler, a pox on their heads.

I belong to a give stuff away free board and this wants the coffee maker I have and he asked if I could leave in front of my door. I laughed out loud and asked how bad he really wanted it. It won't be there in the morning if I did that!!!

so i got it back today and it's probably totaled.

most of the dash instruments are pulled out and ruined in the process, there are parts missing from under the hood, the brand new radiator the distributor, air intake system, spark plug wires and probably a few more things, it's hard to say what's missing when you can't point at the part and say 'that's the distributor'. they chopped the wiring harness very short too.

a new dash and ALL the instruments is probably $1500-2000 a new wiring harness and or re-wiring a lot of stuff is probably around that price too and the missing parts....

well you get the idea.

i was once told the chinese character for 'crisis' is a mix of the characters for 'danger' and 'opportunity'. the opportunity here is that we get to get a car of our choosing (this was a hand me down) and if it's a volvo, our old volvo mechanic typically didn't charge us at all for anything !!

the downside is that the honda was a really nice car, in great shape and very well maintained, solid feel and good handling. it's now probably going to a wrecking yard to be put to another good use of helping other people keep their nice cars running cheaply.

the police can't do anything either. no finger printing, no investigation. the guy told me that there are probably 75 thefts a night here in portland and they don't have the man power to deal with it

So Sorry to hear about your car! I had a problem like that many years ago (when I lived in the City) I got so fed up with my various cars being stolen that when I parked up each night I always took the distributor cap off so the car couldn't be started (dont know about modern cars though!)....the car(s) stopped being stolen.

Perhaps it is something to thnk about for when you get your new car?

yep i'm putting a kill switch on my van this week and any new car will get the same.
