Lojack! That is the solution. My son's truck was taken from the mall. They were at the movies, so the thief had about two hours head start.

It was recovered months later as it was being driven down an arroyo coming back across the border. The dope on board was worth more than the truck was new.

We had to go down to the border for the trial. The guy got three years for the theft of the truck, and I have no idea how many years he got for the dope.

Strangely, they guy had priors, and he was still in prison when the truck was stolen, but he was the one caught with it.

My nephew received a recall notice for his Jeep. He took it to the dealer, and the service writer wrote it up and gave him a paper. Then the service writer drove it to the back of the shop area. He left it running with the door open.

A vagrant jumped into it and took off. Neither the bum or the car have been seen yet. The dealership is not wanting to make good on this.

It is at least a three and half hour drive from here to the border. A lojack unit will start sending signals as soon as it is reported stolen.
Lojack is definately the way to go.

Sorry about this. My dad's car was stolen earlier this year, and it was found two days later torched and burned to a crisp. They stole nothing from it, just took it out to an orchard and lit it on fire. Some people aren't worth the breath God gave em.

I've seen news videos from Phoenix of "sting" cars that are set up with kill switches and video cameras that have been pretty effective at catching some of them.

I work in e commerce for a salvage yard and losers have been jumping the fence and stealing parts off the cars we have in the yard.
Guess what ones they ALWAYS hit? Yup. Honda, Nissan and Toyota. The Honda and Nissan parts the more $$ ones. But all interchange with even more expensive cars.
So the owner is getting new fence installed. Taller. More solid.
I told him to add two BIG guard dogs and constantine wire on the top and around the outside boarder about half way up. The guys are also pulling the parts off those cars faster and putting them inside. Under lock, key and alarm.

Parts end up on Ebay and the local Craigslist a lot.

We had our truck stolen about a year or so back. I felt so mad!! It was stolen from DH's office and five days later found by my mailman a few blocks away. They stole out the battery we had in it, replaced it with a cheap whimpy one. they tore out everything from the dash, broke the ignition, ripped out the speakers, and removed the car seat covers i embroidered our names into. we are glad to have it back, but they couldnt drive the thing well anyway to get far. They broke the rear axle.

Back when I used to work nights in a warehouse, I got sick one night and came home around 3am. DW was pregnant and sleeping and so I slipped in the house as quietly as I could. I was leaving a note on our message board to tell her I was going to be asleep in our guest room when I heard "Don't move!" She was in the opposite doorway holding a .357. I said "Don't shoot me." She told me that if I had come in and been noisy she wouldn't have woken up but since I was sneaking in being quiet, the odd noise woke her up. I'm glad that she responds this way. If it had been a real intruder, she would have been protected.
