So glad to hear everyone in your family is safe and well.
House fires are a scary thing.
Over 20 years ago, our tv cord shorted out in the small 10' x10' bedroom we had and caught the foot of our mattress and blankets on fire while we slept. My cat woke us up. My husband grabbed the extinguisher, and put out the smoldering mattress and small flames. It was just starting to melt the drapes. Fire department came and took out the dresser, and put it in the back yard. We went to my in-laws house.
Thank god they did because it re-ignighted. Our house would have been gone.
This was at about 3:00 am, in December at about 17 below zero.
Always have smoke detectors (we did not at the time just bought the house), and fire extinguishers.
Also, when they say crawl to the floor if there is a lot of smoke, it is for real, I had to get 2 of my cats out.
I will always remember and be thankful for my lil angel Erp for waking me up. Tis a good chance I would not be here posting this.
