So my neighbor called..

I took pictures if anyone wants to email me for them. The buff is a really pretty little bird..but for some reason even though I tried hard, I cannot upload to anywhere today..

I doubt very seriously with such good qualities he was indeed a fighting cock.
He was just a great game breed rooster!

Sounds like he found the purrrrfect home!

Actually, he was ferocious with most animals, but he got on well with my cats and didn't bother humans. He beat the heck out of a huge stray tom cat that came near the kittens. He nearly ripped the cat's ear off and spurred him pretty bad. He was killed by 2 neighbor dogs that were after the kittens. He actually shredded the tongue of one of the dogs. There is a large immigrant population nearby. There have been problems with illegal cock fights and dog fights. I'm pretty sure he was a by-product of that.

Hmmm basement birds

. How was that to deal with maybe I can put mine (13) in the basement for the winter. its a old cellar cement floor but I could spray it down to clean and let the sump pump drain it. would this work having all artificial light for months? Im so worried about the cold winter they are calling for.
Rhett&SarahsMom :

I ended up with my "basement" rooster Fred because some one dumped him at the barn I was leasing. No other chickens. Just the one rooster. He had just started to crow when he showed up one morning. I had no clue about how to care for a chicken and was only leasing the barn.
When the crazy property owners showed their true colors I had to take him home with me to my house. He lived in the basement from Dec 1 to the beginning of March. I found him a new home, with other chickens because at that time I had no idea BYC was here and the dh was definitely not keen on having a house rooster. Fred would crow ALL day long.

The people that dumped(may just wave wandered off the property they belong too?) these birds probably lost their property due to foreclosure. Or may have had the flock without the property owners permission and been forced to "rehome" them. Lord knows it is happening with dogs and cats and such. A flock of chickens? Yeah I can see it
