So, my run stinks. literally.

yeah it is. i don't have anything besides a trash can of garden soil. but my plants are in it
Shavings are almost certainly less expensive. I get big bags that do roughly 1/4-1/3 of my coops for less than 6 bucks and I have way more birds and coops than you do

bye- i need to go see if i can get hay ;-;
This is fall.

Are there dead leaves lying on the ground that you can rake up? Or pine needles?
Have your neighbors raked up leaves and put bags out by the curb?
Is there anyone who wants the leaves raked off their lawn? (They might even pay you to do it, and then you would have both leaves and a little more money.)

Dead leaves and tree-needles can be good chicken bedding, and this is a very good time of year to get them.

no, i live in an environment with barley any trees, i have 5-7 trees in my 5 acre yard, and a few don't lose their leaves. i have 1 pine tree, and that's all of the pine needles. Aka, not much at all. yeah. i guess i could go to each tree and pile all of the leaves together and throw that in the pen. maybe

Do that.

There is nothing chickens like better than a nice pike of yard waste to scratch through.

the only places on earth without trees are deserts. based on the description of your weather in previous posts, you don’t live in a desert. there are trees around. you can easily fill a few bags with leaves.

my landscaper just did our fall clean-up. i asked him to blow all the leaves into a huge pile behind my coop. i dump a fresh wheelbarrow in their run every other day and they go bananas.
